Trimming a Fiddle Leaf Fig Tree
I trimmed/pruned my fiddle leaf fig tree to tame it from overgrowing in our apartment and propagated the cut branches. Spoiler alert: the branch cuttings didn’t root. Nonetheless, here are my tips for trimming a tree.
Trimming/Pruning
1. Using clean pruners, trim/prune the tops to the desire height. Just keep in mind to only remove 20-30% at a time, any more will stress the plant.
2. Wipe away the white sap with a clean towel.

Notes: When cutting each branch, 2-5 branches will grow up and out. So cut knowing this will grow and form on top.
Propagating
1. Dip ends in rooting hormone and place in water
2. Place in bright indirect light
3. Replace water when cloudy
4. Once rooted, repot when roots grow 2-3”

Notes: Each stem should be around 6” with only 2-3 leaves.
