Showering Houseplants

As we’re bringing nature indoors, such as our houseplants into our homes, were stripping away certain elements common to nature — rain. Showering your houseplants will not only emulate this environmental benefit, but remove dust and dirt from its foliage. I bring my smaller foliage plants into my bathtub for its own special plant spa treatment. For large, heavy plants, I wipe down each leaf with a microfiber cloth. I do this once a month.

You can see all of the dust that gets collected on houseplants 🥴

Shower

Place plants in your shower and give it a good rinse until all the leaves have been washed. I like to do this in batches. This depends on how many plants you have.

Shake off/wipe down

I shake excess water off or wipe down the leaves so bacteria won’t grow on the foliage. With a microfiber cloth, I wipe down large heavy houseplants that can’t be carried into the shower.

And that’s it!

So fresh and so clean.
